FAQ

What should I wear?
I get this question a lot, especially for large families. For groups of four or more, the main thing to keep in mind is that you want to coordinate, not match. The days of everyone in the same color shirt are over! Color really pops in a photograph, and I love that! The best thing to do is to pick two or three colors that look good together and have everyone choose their outfits based on that. You can also pick one or two neutrals and tell everyone to accessorize in a brighter color. Stay away from shirts with sayings or logos. For individuals or couples, the same principle applies: color is good! Patterns are good, too, but I suggest only one of you being in a pattern (or two if a large family) & the other(s) wear a solid that coordinates with it. Pinterest is an excellent source of inspiration.

Where should we have our photo session?
Below are some places in the area where I shoot often. If you have somewhere else in mind, I am definitely open to that as well. This is just to give you some ideas. Please note, some places charge a photography fee which will be your responsibility on top of my fee, if you choose to have your session there. A small travel fee will be added to areas outside of Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Walker, Watson, Central, Zachary, St. Francisville, or Prairieville.
  • Antique District & surrounding areas in Denham Springs
  • Downtown Baton Rouge (street scenes, the Shaw Center, the levee, the Old State Capitol)
  • Downtown Baton Rouge (by the State Capitol, Capitol Lakes, & Armory Museum)
  • Forest Community Park
  • Independence Park's Botanical Gardens
  • Louisiana State University
  • City Park at LSU (off Dalrymple)
  • LSU's Rural Life Museum ($70 fee)
  • LSU AgCenter Botanical Gardens ($70 fee)
  • LSU's Hilltop Arboretum ($40 fee)
  • Rosedown Plantation ($7/person entrance fee)

What is the best time to have our photo session?
I prefer sessions in the early morning hours (7:00/8:00 am) or in the late afternoon (4:00/4:30 pm), depending on the time of year. However, if those times do not work for your family, we can do them any time of day! My sessions are usually on Saturdays & Sundays, but I do have some weekday availability as well.

Can I bring my pet(s)?
Yes, absolutely! I love animals, and would be thrilled to have your pets join us. You may want to consider bringing someone to hold on to your pet while I get some shots of just the humans.

What if it rains?
A lot of times rain is in the forecast before your session, but changes as we get closer to your date. Once it is the week of your session, and especially a few days prior, I will start paying closer attention to the forecast. I usually play it by ear, and for the most part I leave it up to you if you want to go for it or cancel. If we have to cancel, we will reschedule your session for the next day or following weekend.

How much is a session with you?
Sessions start at $150 and include all edited images. Please visit my investment page for more details.

Do you offer mini-sessions?
I will offer mini-sessions twice a year, once in the spring & again in the fall. These sessions will typically be 15 minute sessions at a much lower rate than my other sessions. Be on the lookout for these specials!

Will I get a disc of my images?
No need for a disc, since you will be given access to an online proofing gallery. From there, you will be able to download all high-resolution images straight to your computer! If you still need a flash drive or dvd of your images, please let me know.

How do I book?
Just click the email icon at the top of the page and send me an email letting me know the date and type of your session. I will respond within 24 hours (but probably much sooner) to let you know if that date is available. Once you tell me you do want to book, I will send you a contract an invoice. Your session is not officially booked until the contract is signed and you have paid the deposit, which is half of the full amount.

What is your turnaround time for pictures?
Please expect two weeks turnaround for portrait sessions, and four to six weeks for events. I have a full-time job so I do most of my shooting and editing on the weekends. Mini-sessions won't take as long. Portrait sessions could take longer during the busy months of October, November & December. If you need a picture by a specific time, please be sure to let me know beforehand or the day of our shoot.

I covered my most common questions here, but if I missed something please feel free to contact me. Click the email icon at the top to send me an email, and I will get back to you right away!
